So I began doing Crossfit on the recommendation of my cousin back in 2008. I would have been 19 at the time. He told me to try a workout called Cindy (5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 air-squats as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes). So I tried it out in my parents basement because there wasn't really any Crossfit gyms in Ottawa at that time. I quit the workout after 15 minutes. But I was hooked.

For almost two years after that I was glued to crossfit.com, watching all the videos, learning the movements and progressions and slowly gathering equipment for my home gym (my parents garage). I got my first muscle up in that garage from watching videos on crossfit.com.

When I started going to a real Crossfit gym I realized what I had been missing out on while working out at home. The community of people from all ages and backgrounds trying to learn and push themselves everyday was inspiring. It helped cement my relationship to fitness and Crossfit as a way of life.

At Crossfit Bytown I'm happy to share this journey of fitness and wellness that we've all embarked on.
