December 2017

We, the CrossFit Bytown coaching staff, are very excited to award our December 2017 Member of the Month to Peter Waisberg. Peter is a great example of consistency in training and is a regular staple in the evening weightlifting classes, making great progress in his strength, speed, and technique. Last year he suffered a setback with a bicep injury but has bounced back better than ever (skinning cats isn’t for everyone). An international man of mystery, Peter is also well known for his debonair and dapper style.

Why did you choose Crossfit?
My ex convinced me to try it. After a week I was so bored at my regular gym I couldn’t go back.

Why did you choose our gym?
My plan was to check out a few boxes. Bytown was the first on my list because it was the closest. The people were so great that I never even tried the others.

What are your goals?
My goals are to always get stronger and more technically proficient. And for 2018 I want a 185lbs snatch and a 225lbs clean and jerk.

What do you do for a living, hobbies?
I work for the federal government. I am not a spy 😉
My hobbies are wine and travel. Sometimes I read.

What change have you noticed?
I am stronger, happier, and about 10 lbs heavier. I had to get new clothes.

What motivates you?
My progress to date and the encouragement of my coaches and peers motivate me. I know that if I show up, then I will work hard. It never gets easier and it is always fun.

Advice to new members:
Don’t be intimidated, don’t be afraid to scale, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. And don’t get frustrated – you will master that new skill faster than you think.
