We, the CrossFit Bytown coaching staff, are very excited to award our January 2018 Member of the Month to Andrew Forward, also known as Fast, also known as Fast Forward. Andrew's training follows the CrossFit methodology in its purest form: he hits the class so hard he physically can’t do anything more. He also brings a great positive attitude and an open mind always willing to learn.

Why did you choose CrossFit?

CrossFit chose me, literally. For those that don't know, I work as a software engineering Headquaters (or HQ). It took a year working for them writing software before I munstered up the nerve to actually try "doing" CrossFit.

Why did you choose Bytown
==
My plan was to try out a few gyms, starting with the closest to my house,
which was Bytown. There was no need to check out any others. The coachesall had their own intricies and teaching styles, all of which had something to offer.

What are your goals?
==
Goals are for losers!!! But seriously, I prefer to think in terms of building
habits, and then what someone might typically have as goal would be a welcome side effect of that habit.

That said, here are my sound-byte goals

+ Do all open 2018 workouts at Rx,
+ Consistently be able to do muscle-ups, 
+ Take a 40 day family excursion this summer to celebrate my 40th

What do you do for a living?
==
I work for HQ as a software engineer. I am also a part-time professor at
Ottawa U teaching engineering and computer science courses.

What are your hobbies?
==
Chasing my kids, par-3 golfing,

What changes have you noticed?
==
Happier, healthier, and surprisingly, also funnier.

What motivates you?
==
#RetiredButWorking is what I strive for, ideally when I think back about
my week if it is mostly indistinguishable from someone that is actively
retired, then I had a good week.

As for during a workout, if I don't reach my desired metric (# rounds, time, 
weight, etc) then I imagine that my kids don't move out after high school (oh, the horror).

Favourite WOD?
==
Chippers, as long as they don't include toes-to-bar.

Advice to new members
==
Abs for show, obliques for go.
